Cafes

For many Finns, coffee is the most important meal of the day. You are sure to get an invitation to join for a coffee, which is one of the most common ways to spend time with friends. Unfortunately all the websites are in Finnish, but there are beautiful pictures to give you an idea of the place!

A large selection of cafeterias within the city will surely quench your thirst for caffeine and sweets (most of them serve lunch, too)! There is a growing trend towards organic and nearby produced food: one specialty cafe is Powau, which offers various superfood smoothies, raw cakes and courses to learn doing them at home.

Cafe Art is also very popular as it offers great coffee, changing art exhibitions and perfect scenery by the river. The wonderful Cafe Qwensel, coffee house behind the pharmacy museum is located also by the river. It can be a bit tricky to find, so it's also called the "secret cafe". Gaggui Kaffela is specialized in offering amazing cakes and the owner is actually a former cancer researcher of the University of Turku. Naantalin aurinkoinen is a traditional and local cafe chain with various locations in the city. Fiilis Café & Bistro is a new arrival close to university campus serving also vegan options.

These and other nice cafes can be found on a map.
